"Doing this course has made me far more confident in the wheelchair and seating space and is helping me achieve my goal of becoming the go-to wheelchair clinician within my company."

You probably don't need another wheelchair workshop.

You've done the webinars. You've watched the supplier education. You've learnt about cushions, posture, wheelchairs, power functions and products.

But then a complex client lands and you're still thinking:

  • Have I missed something?
  • Was that really the best option?
  • Is this person going to be safe in the chair I just prescribed?

And often you won't find out the spec was wrong until six months later. Usually it's the next OT who finds it.

So the process changes depending on the client, the supplier and what you happen to remember on the day.

And when you're not sure, you naturally fall back on what feels safest.

  • What worked last time.
  • Hours of research after the appointment.
  • Whoever in the room sounds most certain.

The problem isn't that you need to memorise more.

Complex wheelchair prescription has too many variables, trade-offs and decisions to keep in your head.

More information won't fix that. A system will.

One process to come back to. Every time.

Seating Simplified™ gives you that by taking you through 3 core steps.

Tap to hear it from clinicians who've done it.

Structure

Step one

What you're missing

A repeatable process that takes you from the first referral through to assessment, trial, prescription, delivery and follow-up.

So instead of trying to remember everything, you've got a process to follow every time.

Decisions

Step two

How to decide

Ignore product brochures, what you're familiar with or what people are telling you. Have a logical way to compare options, weigh the trade-offs and make a decision you can stand behind.

Then be able to say: "Here's why this, not that."

Independence

Step three

How to know

Bring your real cases to an expert while they're still live, before the chair is ordered. Get a second set of eyes on the decisions that keep you up at night.

Over time, you need it less. You become the person making the call.

Walk into the next case differently.

Tap the to hear it from clinicians who've done it.

Instead of wondering what you should be looking for:

Know what you need to assess.

Instead of waiting for the supplier to suggest what to trial:

Tell them what you want to test and why.

Instead of leaving the appointment wondering whether you got it right:

Know what worked, what didn't and what needs to change.

Instead of spending your evening searching through old PDFs and product pages:

Open the process and work through it.

Instead of second-guessing every recommendation:

Back the decision with clear clinical reasoning.

And over time, become the clinician people feel confident sending the complex wheelchair referrals to.

This is what that looks like in practice.

You don't have to keep the whole process in your head.

Remembering more information isn't the goal. The goal is being able to use it.

You don't need to become a walking wheelchair textbook. You need to know what to do next.

10+Years in wheelchairs and seating

Built from more than a decade in wheelchair and seating.

I'm Justin Boulos.

I spent more than a decade working in complex wheelchair and seating prescription and have worked with more than 1,000 complex clients.

I built Seating Simplified™ because I kept seeing the same problem with wheelchair education. There was plenty of information. What was missing was a simple way of putting it all together when there was an actual person sitting in front of you.

So I turned the process I used clinically into something other therapists could follow.

Simple. Practical. Step by step. Built for the appointment, not the training room.

Seating Simplified™ is for you if...

  • You want to feel more solid in the cases you already get. Because you know your clients deserve the best.
  • You want to do more of this work. Moving your career in the direction you want, not the one you were given.
  • You want to lead the clinical decision. Good suppliers are incredibly valuable. They shouldn't have to carry your clinical reasoning.
  • You want one process to come back to. Especially when wheelchair referrals don't come often enough to rely on repetition.
  • You have a way to apply what you learn. You have current cases, referrals coming through, or you're actively building this part of your practice.

It probably isn't for you if...

  • You only want CPD points.
  • You're happy with how you currently approach wheelchair prescription.

“I never felt completely confident going into a seating review and always found myself relying heavily on the reps knowledge and experience but now I am going into the assessments with a confident plan and frameworks to justify my recommendations.”

I have been a paediatric OT in the private practice space for over 15 years and in that time I have sought out both supervision and courses to increase my knowledge in the areas of complex wheelchair prescription, but to be honest never felt completely confident going into a seating review and always found myself relying heavily on the reps knowledge and experience.

Since doing this course I have refreshed my knowledge but also filled in gaps that I didn't even know was missing. I am going into the assessments and reviews with a confident plan, frameworks to justify my recommendations and the right tools, quite literally! Not to mention as a busy working mother the course and content was easy to access, I was able to work at my own pace, the community is super responsive and Justin's experience and passion is unmatched.

A game changer for me - the templates! I now know how and what to document and record using the very simple templates and checklists to ensure that my documentation meets all standards. As we know if its not recorded it didn't happen!

I will no longer being shying away from complex referrals, thankyou

It provides a comprehensive and detailed framework which they can work through at their own pace and then refer back to when working with specific clients. This has saved me hours in specific one on one training and with Justin's enthusiasm and attention to detail, I can also be confident that the team are getting the latest most relevant and up to date information. The ongoing mentoring sessions with Justin are also excellent and this is something as a team we will all be utilising going forward to discuss complex cases and all learn together. “I feel much more confident in what I'm looking at, what questions I need to ask and how to make sure the end result is actually right for the client.”

I have been an OT for about five years and have completed several wheelchair prescriptions, but I often found myself questioning whether I had chosen the right model, fit or set-up and relying quite heavily on suppliers to guide the process.

The Wheelieworx program has really helped change that. The program covers the whole wheelchair prescription process in depth, from the initial assessment through to trials, scripting, fitting and delivery, including all the little things in between that can easily be missed. I feel much more confident now in my clinical reasoning and in being able to lead the prescription process rather than sitting back and relying on the supplier.

Justin's accountability calls have also been a huge part of the experience for me. Having regular opportunities to ask questions, work through real cases and actually apply what I'm learning has been really helpful. I still know there's always more to learn with complex seating, but I feel much more confident in what I'm looking at, what questions I need to ask and how to make sure the end result is actually right for the client.

Thanks again Justin!!

“I feel much more confident knowing what to look for, how to problem solve when something isn't working, and how to make sure the final prescription is genuinely right for the person.”

Before starting the program, I felt like I was relying quite heavily on suppliers during wheelchair trials and recommendations. I had limited experience with wheelchairs, and I often found myself second guessing whether I was asking the right questions, considering all the right options, or whether the recommendations being made were actually the best fit for my client.

The program has made a huge difference to my confidence. I now feel like I can walk into a wheelchair trial with a much clearer idea of what I am looking for, what questions I need to ask, and how to independently check and analyse the recommendations being made rather than simply relying on the supplier.

One of the biggest things I have gained is having an actual process to follow, particularly when analysing posture and working through the different wheelchair components and options. I feel much more confident knowing what to look for, how to problem solve when something isn't working, and how to make sure the final prescription is genuinely right for the person.

I still have lots to learn, but I now feel like I have the knowledge and tools to keep building my wheelchair skills rather than feeling unsure of where to start.

I am reasonably confident in scripting a wheelchair. However, I recently had a patient in a rural location requiring an all-terrain wheelchair. Not something I had scripted before. One zoom call with Justin and he was able to suggest 3 different models of chair. The pros and cons of each chair along with suppliers in the local area for the client. This was really invaluable in saving me hours looking up chairs, reading the specs and comparing them, or calling different companies etc to discuss. After the call, Justin followed up with a written summary of what we had discussed. This saved me time on writing notes!! Really worth connecting with Justin, he has a wealth of knowledge. Thankyou!

“For those hesitant about this course. Don't be. Pull the trigger”

WOW what a course! For a quick background, I have been a community OT in complex paediatrics for a number of years and have transitioned to a role as an Assistive technology professional (ATP). As such, I have an in depth knowledge of seating assessment, clinical reasoning, trials, etc... After completing this course my knowledge base has expanded so much more. My favourite parts were definitely about pressure injuries and prevention, overview of different types of cushions, and types of supports. There is of course so much more, ranging from manual wheelchairs, power assist and power wheelchairs too! Justin does an amazing job at not just explaining what they are but how to set supports up, which is often more important than the support itself. Justin also has an amazing way of simplifying topics. See if you can find someone who can tell you the difference between immersion and envelopment....I bet you can't. Even if you have minimal experience with Assistive technology, after this course you will be able to confidently assess, prescribe and review any set-up you come up against. For those hesitant about this course. Don't be. Pull the trigger and you will see your knowledge base explode, and not only will you benefit, but so will the clients and families you are working with.

“After 15 years of working in wheelchair seating, Seating Simplified has been one of the most practical and engaging courses I've taken.”

Seating therapists...you've stumbled upon a gem. After 15 years of working in wheelchair seating, Seating Simplified has been one of the most practical and engaging courses I've taken.

What stood out to me was the focus on what matters most - achieving positive client outcomes, alongside resources and frameworks that are easy to take back into and apply in practice. Justin is clearly passionate about this work and has a real talent for breaking down complex topics in a way that's easy to understand without oversimplifying them.

I came away with new ways of thinking about my seating practice, greater confidence in my clinical reasoning/prescriptions, and resources that will save me time. I'd recommend to any seating therapist - whether they are newer to wheelchair seating, looking to build a stronger foundation, or in a mentorship/educator or specialist role.

“This has also made me far more confident in the wheelchair and seating space and is helping me achieve my goal of becoming the go to wheelchair clinician within my company.”

I can't recommend this course enough! As an OT working in the NDIS space, wheelchairs and complex seating can sometimes feel daunting and overwhelming, but this course breaks everything down in a really clear, practical way. The content is incredibly comprehensive and covers the entire wheelchair prescription process, from assessment and clinical reasoning through to set-up, delivery, and troubleshooting. I've really loved how the course balances theory with practical application, which makes it easy to translate the learning directly into day-to-day practice. What sets this course apart is how Justin simplifies concepts and shares insights from real clinical experience. The ability to revisit modules and resources whenever needed is also a huge benefit. Since starting the course, I've already found myself applying what I've learned in assessments and trials, which is boosted my confidence when working with suppliers and recommending equipment for clients. Doing this course has also made me far more confident in the wheelchair and seating space and is helping me achieve my goal of becoming the go to wheelchair clinician within my company. If you're an OT looking to build confidence and skills and wheelchair prescription this course is a must do!

“Going from wanting to turn wheelchair referrals away to actually being the one getting them is the reason I can sleep at night now.”

As a new grad, I was nowhere near prepared for wheelchair prescription. Even though I had a background as an AHA working in AT and home modifications, being the OT responsible for the assessment, clinical reasoning and prescription was a completely different level.

I knew wheelchair prescription was something I really wanted to get into, but I honestly didn't know where to start. I was losing sleep over referrals, unsure about measurements and what I should actually be prescribing. If something complex came through, I'd spend ages trying to find answers and still feel unsure. There were times I was so overwhelmed by it that I'd rather turn the referral away.

I really wanted to be able to independently prescribe a wheelchair and back myself, without feeling like I needed someone else to tell me what to do.

Now I feel so much more confident. I still don't always know exactly what I want to prescribe straight away, but now I know where to start and, more importantly, I know how to find the answer.

The course is really easy to follow but still gives you strong support across all the different parts of wheelchair prescription. Having the forms and resources already made and ready to go has been a massive help. They're accessible, easy to follow and have exactly what I need, instead of having to sit there and work everything out from scratch.

I also understand so much more about pressure care and the different options available. I'm not just thinking about the standard Jay cushion or ROHO that everyone talks about. I feel like I can actually explore different options and understand why something may or may not be appropriate for that person.

Now I can confidently start a wheelchair assessment and work through a prescription, even when it's something more complex.

I can understand what suppliers are telling me, ask questions, provide more information and request trials when I need to. When a chair is delivered, I know what I need to look for and can pick up when something hasn't been implemented properly. I can either fix it myself, explore it further with the group, or use the links and research to work out what I need to do next.

I'm also much more confident explaining what I want and backing it up with evidence-based clinical reasoning. I can talk to other allied health professionals about my plan and explain why I'm recommending something, rather than second guessing myself.

I feel much more confident talking to stakeholders and advocating for things that will actually make a difference for the person — whether that's increased community access, reducing risk of injury, education or looking at additions to the chair that might not be the standard option.

Even though I'm definitely not the biggest poster in the community, especially when I've got a big caseload and reports piling up, I still get so much out of reading what other OTs are sharing. Seeing other people's thoughts, opinions, clinical reasoning and justifications has helped me think about things differently and build my own clinical reasoning.

Overall, I've gone from being nowhere near prepared and losing sleep over wheelchair referrals, to actually feeling confident taking them on. I might not always know exactly what I want to prescribe straight away, but I know where to start, where to look and how to work it out.

And going from wanting to turn wheelchair referrals away to actually being the one getting them is the reason I can sleep at night now.

“I felt like I was so reliant on suppliers and technicians... now I feel comfortable going into trials and asking for what I want”

Rural OT's – You gotta do this course! I recently completed the self-paced Wheelieworx Seating Simplified course, and it was instrumental in improving my knowledge and confidence as a mid-career OT looking to dive a bit deeper into complex wheelchair prescription. I signed up as I felt like even though I had attended countless trainings, I was missing the basic foundations and principles to address the needs of more complex clients. The course is so comprehensive, and I realised pretty quickly that it was going to help my clinical reasoning across a range of clients with basic and complex needs. Justin has included step by step guides to address a variety of different presentations, and so many elements of seating and the course has given me the confidence to put together a wheelchair that I know will meet the needs of my client. In the NDIS space, and as a rural OT, this is invaluable. I don't have the time, resources, or consistent clinical support to ensure I can trial the perfect wheelchair, but I do know that by going through the steps in this course, I will have the right foundation for any recommendation I make. Before the program I felt like I was so reliant on suppliers and technicians to guide me in the right direction and now I feel comfortable going into trials and asking for what I want and also knowing whether it works or not – and if it doesn't, how to adjust it. I would highly recommend the course to anyone, regardless of their level of your level of experience, I think there is plenty to learn!

Justin's training program is exceptional. He cleverly structures content with a mix of visual and written which was very engaging (so much so that I chose to spend my weekend doing the course because I enjoyed it). The course stood out from other training because it explained wheelchair frame and cushion anatomy and what to actually do with MAT assessment findings, not just how to conduct one! Client examples made the content relatable and easier to apply in practice. Now I've finished, I am much more confident in leading the process and working collaboratively with equipment reps to guide me on product selection without depending on them for everything. For other therapists considering joining the training program, I promise its worth every penny!

Highly recommend Justin's course! I came into it with a few years' of experience in the complex seating world, but this course really helped me to think more laterally, round out my client experience, build on my existing knowledge base and to increase my confidence to ask 'why not?' when it comes to getting users involved with powered mobility. Course content is very digestible and engaging and the take-homes/decision trees provide an added element of practicality as well as tangible resources that I can use with clients. Would recommend to anyone wanting to level-up their game in complex seating!
